“My a safari jacket. Eight hours of work. »
In the workshop, in Mayenne, this is how each M47 begins. Eight hours. Not one less. First the four pockets — each reinforced at stress points, clamped so they never give way. Then the belt, adjusted millimeter by millimeter. Finally the collar, formed with an iron to fit the nape of the neck.
The M47 was not born in a style office. It was born when the French army asked Coulange for a jacket that would hold up to the desert. What the workshop delivered will last forever.
A military heritage, a civilian look
A historic supplier to the French army, Coulange has designed clothing that knows neither the season nor the fashion. The watch jacket supplied to the French Navy has become an icon. The M47 has crossed the sands to arrive on the shoulders of those who know how to recognize clothing made to last.
The Saharan Collection
This summer, the safari collection is available in four silhouettes:
- M47 Men — The legend, in waxed cotton gabardine. Four pockets, a belt, an heirloom.
- M47 Woman — Same requirement, adapted cut. The safari jacket has never been a man's garment: it is a garment for those who advance.
- B27 — The little sister of the M47. Lighter, in navy cotton twill.
- U51 White Linen — Linen in its purest form. Undyed, untreated, it keeps its natural color.
Each safari jacket is made by hand in the Coulange workshop, in Mayenne. The buttons are made of real horn, selected for their authenticity. The seams are triple at the shoulders. The neck is formed with an iron.
