"My name is a Saharan. Eight hours of work."
In the workshop, in the Mayenne, this is how every M47 begins. Eight hours. Not one less. First the four pockets — each reinforced at the stress points, bridled to never give way. Then the belt, adjusted millimeter by millimeter. Finally the collar, hot-pressed to embrace the nape of the neck.
The M47 was not born in a style office. It was born when the French army asked Coulange for a jacket that would withstand the desert. What the workshop delivered will withstand eternity.
A Military Heritage, a Civilian Allure
Historic supplier to the French army, Coulange has designed garments that know neither season nor fashion. The quarterdeck jacket supplied to the French Navy became an icon. The M47 crossed the sands to land on the shoulders of those who know how to recognize a garment built to last.
The Saharienne Collection
This summer, the saharienne collection unfolds in four silhouettes:
- M47 Men — The legend, in waxed cotton gabardine. Four pockets, one belt, one heritage.
- M47 Women — Same standards, adapted cut. The saharienne has never been a man's garment: it is the garment of those who move forward.
- B27 — The M47's little sister. Lighter, in navy serge cotton.
- U51 White Linen — Linen at its purest. Undyed, untreated, it keeps its natural color.
Each saharienne is handcrafted in the Coulange workshop, in the Mayenne. The buttons are genuine horn, selected for their authenticity. The seams are triple-stitched at the shoulders. The collar is hot-pressed.
